ClimatePartner combines market-leading expertise to measure carbon footprint with a certified labelling system, and provides support with strategies for emissions reduction and avoidance including clean mobility and sustainability. Headquartered in Switzerland, the company opened a new London office in August 2020 and currently supports more than 2,500 companies in 35 countries. Once businesses have calculated their initial total carbon emissions, these are then offset via investment into a variety of sustainable projects around the world.
Early adopters include the printing and packaging sector, with increasing numbers coming from manufacturing and retail. Aldi UK and Ireland has been a ClimatePartner since 2012, working to decrease its greenhouse gas emissions per square metre of sales floor by 53% so far through adoption of solar power for its stores and distribution centres and upgrading to appliances that are the most environmentally friendly.

In order to achieve ClimatePartner certification, Propeller Powered completed a comprehensive audit to calculate their own carbon emissions, including those generated by energy consumption through office heating, electricity usage, rackspace and travel. In collating all of that information, the business now has a benchmark of the quantity of carbon emissions, and ClimatePartner can calculate the offset amount.
Deborah says: “The carbon audit process also gave us a good insight into areas of hte business where other efficiencies could be made, and as we’ll be repeating it on an annual basis, it’s an excellent way to monitor how our carbon emissions are reducing – and efficiencies increasing – over time.”
